Hwang Dong Hyuk Hopes Squid Game Season 2 Can Air in 2024

Hwang Dong Hyuk as the director of Squid Game hopes that season 2 of the series can air at least in 2024. He also admitted that he was in installments preparation for the production of Squid Game Season 2.

It seems we both agree, if Squid Game deserves the title of one of the best Netflix original series ever. Thanks to the suspenseful storyline, this 9-episode series has won several prestigious awards in the world of cinema.

Now, the director wants to continue the positive trend of his series, by presenting Squid Game Season 2 which is rumored to be much more exciting than the first season.

According to reports from business time, Hwang Dong Hyuk admitted that he would still be a director in the 2nd season of the Squid Game series. He hopes that his work can be watched in 2024.

“I have to work on season 2. Hopefully, I can show it to fans by the end of 2024,” said Hwang Dong Hyuk at the MIPTV festival in Cannes.

Furthermore, currently Dong Hyuk and his crew are actively exchanging story ideas in order to maximize the plot of Squid Game Season 2.

“We are preparing a better story and are gathering ideas for a second season,” he continued.

When asked about the storyline that he will use in Squid Game season 2, Dong Hyuk said that everything is still a secret. To be sure, Lee Jung Jae will still be the main character in the series.

“Everything is a secret. I can’t say anything. But he (Lee Jung Jae) will come back and do something for the world,” concluded Dong Hyuk.

Not long ago, the director who was born on May 26, 1971 also said that Squid Game Season 2 would present more extraordinary games.

“There will be many more incredible games. That’s all I can say now,” Dong Hyuk said in an interview at the PGA Awards with Deadline.

He will also try to present some of the main characters in the first season in various ways, for example by presenting Jung Ho Yeon’s twin who plays Kang Sae Byeok.

“Almost all the characters died. I’ll try to bring them back into season two. Just say like Kang Sae Byeok, maybe have twins? See you later,” he concluded.
