Academy Condemns Will Smith's Actions at Oscar 2022

The Academy Award has spoken about the slapping incident involving Will Smith and Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars. Currently, they are conducting an investigation regarding the matter.

The name Will Smith is indeed trending in cyberspace, following his act of slapping the face of comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Even though he defended his wife who was made a joke, Will Smith’s actions still received criticism from various parties.

One of the parties that strongly criticized the actions of Jaden Smith’s father was the Academy. In fact, it said it did not condone acts of violence in any form.

The Academy Talks About The Incident Between Will Smith and Chris Rock

“The Academy does not condone violence of any kind,” the Academy wrote.

In its official statement, the Academy also condemned the incident and is currently investigating and considering the consequences that Will Smith deserves.

“The Academy condemns Mr. Smith on the show last night. We have officially started a formal review of the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.”

However, it seems Chris Rock doesn’t mind the incident and has no intention of reporting Will Smith to the authorities. This has also been confirmed directly by the LAPD.

“The investigative entity LAPD is aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one person slapping another. The individuals involved have refused to file a police report. If the parties involved want a police report at a later date, the LAPD will be available to complete the investigative report,” the LAPD said.

On the other hand, Will Smith has apologized to Chris Rock and admitted that his actions were very embarrassing.

“I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I clearly crossed the line and I was wrong,” Will Smith wrote on his Instagram account.
