Why didn't Tom Cruise's version of Iron Man appear in Doctor Strange 2?

Why didn’t Tom Cruise’s version of Iron Man appear in Doctor Strange 2? Did Tom Cruise refuse to play the character? Or is it that Marvel is not interested in using the services of the actor? Read this article to the end, because SPIN will provide the answer for you.

Iron Man himself is a superhero who first appeared in Marvel Comics, created by Stan Lee and developed by Larry Lieber, Don Heck and Jack Kirby. After only appearing in the comic version, Marvel also brought the character to the big screen and joined the Avengers. Unfortunately, Iron Man had to die in Avengers: Endgame.

In 2022, it was rumored that Iron Man appeared again in the MCU universe, but with a different universe and cast. However, the news was automatically denied, after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released and did not show Tom Cruise’s version of Iron Man at all.

The Reason Why Tom Cruise’s Iron Man Doesn’t Appear in Doctor Strange 2

Not long ago, the scriptwriter of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, namely Michael Waldron explained to the media crew about the rumors of the presence of Tom Cruise’s version of Iron Man in the film. In his statement, he said that it was just a rumor.

However, he is also not a hypocrite that he had proposed to present Tom Cruise as Iron Man to the president of Marvel, namely Kevin Feige. This explanation from Waldron also breaks the speculation that Marvel intentionally cut Tom Cruise’s Iron Man scene in the 2nd Doctor Strange movie.

“It (Cruise’s version of Iron Man) is really just a rumour. I mean, no cut Tom Cruise scenes! I love Cruise and I once said to Kevin Feige (president of Marvel Studios), ‘Can we get Cruise’s Iron Man?’ That same day (before speaking to Feige), I read about Cruise turning Iron Man on Ain’t It Cool News.” explained Waldron, quoted from Rolling Stones.

Prior to the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there were many rumors that Superior Iron Man would appear in the film and join the Illuminati group to try Stephen Strange, who has wreaked havoc in the multiverse.

Instead of featuring Superior Iron Man, Marvel presented Mr. Fantastic, Professor X, Black Bolt, Captain Marvel, Captain Carter, and Karl Mordo. Of course, this made Marvel fans disappointed, because what they expected to be in the Illuminati group was Tom Cruise’s version of Superior Iron Man.
