Mid-Season Invitational 2022 or often called MSI 2022, the first international League of Legends event of 2022, kicks off with the group stage on May 10.

Bringing top teams from around the world to the Bexco Exhibition Hall in Busan, South Korea, considered by many to be the home of esports. MSI 2022 will feature a total of 11 teams from the region including North America, Europe, China, South Korea, Japan, Oceania, Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Latin America, Brazil and Turkey.

For the first time since 2022, MSI will have an audience enlivening one of the biggest events on this one. The 11 best teams in the world will fight for a total prize of USD $ 250,000 or around Rp. 3.6 billion.

Teams Participating in MSI 2022

  • 10 champions from the playoffs Spring Split 2022 major leagues from all over the world will fly to Busan.
  • Chinese LPL Champion will compete remotely due to constraints related to COVID-19.
    Representative LCL (CIS) will not be attending the event due to the LCL Spring Split 2022 being cancelled.
  • Eligible participants are as follows: G2 Esports (Europe), T1 (Korea), PSG Talon (PCS), Team Aze (LLA), Istanbul Wildcats (Turkey), DetonatioN FocusMe (Japan), ORDER (Oceania), Saigon Buffalo (Vietnam), Royal Never Give Up (China), Evil Geniuses (North America), RED Canids (Brazil).

MSI 2022 format

The MSI 2022 format will be the same as last year, where MSI 2022 will have three stages.

In the first round, group stage, The 11 teams will be divided into two groups of four, and one group of three. In their respective groups, teams will play a draw best-of-one round-robinwhich will determine the top two teams that qualify for the rumble stage.

At stage rumbles, six teams are placed in one group. Similar to the previous stage of the event, teams will play each other twice in best-of-one format. After the match ends, the top team will advance to the knockout stage.

In the round knockout or playoffs, the top four teams will compete in a draw best-of-five. Both winners will claim a place in the grand final, which will also be a best-of-five.

MSI 2022 schedule

Each of the three stages will be played on a different day. Teams will have several days of rest between each stage.

  • Group stage: 10 to 15 May
  • Rumble stage: 18 to 22 May
  • Knockout: May 27-29
