Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Officially Closes on January 31, 2022

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, Niantic’s augmented reality game following the success of Pokémon GO, officially closed on January 31, 2022. In the game’s official statement, the game will not be listed on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store on December 6, 2022.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will also implement several changes prior to closing, which include increased rewards for all Daily Tasks, reduced Potion Making time with Master Notes, and removal of daily limits on sending and opening Gifts. Barrufio’s Brain Elixir Potion will also get a 3x player XP reward increase, plus a frequency increase for the 1920s Portkey Portmanteaus on the map (same goes for Spell Energy and Materials on the map).

More events will also be launched, including the Dolores Umbridge Lethal Adversaries Event, Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 1, Lucius Malfoy Lethal Adversaries Event, Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 2, Bellatrix Lethal Adversaries Event, Voldemort Lethal Adversaries Event, and Deathly Hallows Brilliant Event Parts 1-2.

“Not all games are meant to last forever. Our goal with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is to bring the magic of the wizarding world to life for millions of players as they step outside and explore their surroundings. We achieved this together, delivering two narrative arcs of the year that are coming to an end,” Niantic said in a statement. “Our goal is to provide you, our players with the best possible experience, based on our pillars of exploration, sport and real-world social interaction. We’ll be taking all the lessons from Harry Potter: Wizards Unite into our other projects.”

Of course, players are sad that the game is closing soon, but for now, players can still enjoy the rest of the month Harry Potter: Wizards Unite on iOS and Android before it closes.
