Cannes Becomes First City in Europe to Make Landmark an NFT

Cannes is officially the first city in Europe to make its landmark an NFT. Later, the digital assets will be marketed through an auction system.

Cannes is a city in southern France located on the Riviera, in the Alpes-Maritimes department. Cannes is still in the Nice metropolitan area with a total population of 933,080 inhabitants.

Now, the city which is famous for its beautiful scenery has officially entered the digital asset business by making some of its landmarks a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).

Cannes Adapts Its Landmark Into An NFT, Interested in Buying It?

Launching from NFT EveningIn total, there are 11 Cannes city landmarks that will be used as digital assets, including le Palais des festivals et des congrs de Cannes and le boulevard de la Croisette.

In addition, there are several other landmarks that are ready to be adapted into an NFT, such as le Port Canton, l’île Sainte-Marguerite (avec le Fort Royal), l’écomusée marin Jason Decaires Taylor, la Malmaison, le Vieux-Port, le marché Forville, le Suquet, la Pointe Croisette, and le Campus Georges Méliès.

The Cannes city government said this latest innovation aims to increase the attractiveness of tourists to want to vacation in the city in a different way.

“This operation aims to promote the attractiveness of the Cannes destination through the enhancement and promotion of its historical heritage, identity vector and authenticity”, the city government said.

To launch innovation, the city government of Cannes cooperated with the original French company, namely Pertimm. The company has more than 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence development and e-commerce.

It is planned that the first 10 NFTs will be auctioned during the Cannes Lion international creativity festival, which will be held from 20 to 24 June 2022.

Then, the 11th NFT will be awarded to one of the Cannes natives by a lottery system. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this digital asset will be donated to the Cannes Foundation to develop environmental stewardship projects.
