Looking for a decent Genshin Impact Childe? Tartaglia, better known to players as Childe, is an important figure in the game’s prologue, but has only become a playable character recently. This Hydro fighter comes as one of the best DPS characters in the game. As you would expect, that makes it extremely rare.

For anyone lucky enough (or willing to spend the money) to attract a Tartaglia, you should know how to get the most out of it. From attacks, abilities, best weapon choices, to how to get Tartaglia in Genshin Impact, this is your one-stop shop.

How to get Tartaglia in Genshin Impact

Tartaglia is part of the limited-time Genshin Impact Farewell of Snezhnaya banner and is the only five-star character there. This means while he has a regular 0.6 percent drop rate, he is guaranteed to attract mercy. Pity pulls guarantee you five-star pulls if you come dry on the same banner after 90 pulls, which sounds like a lot, but this will carry over from Klee’s previous banners, assuming you don’t get five-star characters there either.

Running from November 11 to December 1, the banner also features the new four-star character Diona, as well as the previously available four-star characters Ningguang and Beidou.

Genshin Impact Childe’s overview

Tartaglia is the only character who can seriously challenge Diluc’s claim to be the game’s best character. He can tear any enemy apart with his Hydro attacks, especially when upgraded. He is so powerful that you can place any weapon in his hands and he will still destroy most enemies. However, it would be a shame to waste Tartaglia’s talent by building inferiors.

According to Tartaglia herself, the only reason she used the bow at all was because it was the worst weapon for her, making it more attractive for her to beat people because she wasn’t at full power. Considering how good he looked with a bow, it was a scary thought. Good thing he’s on your side, huh?

1) Normal attack : Bypass Torrent

• Normal Attack : Tartaglia made six consecutive bow shots.

• Loaded Attack : Tartaglia aims a super charged single arrow with Hydro damage. Each enemy hit full hit takes Riptide damage, which deals Hydro AoE damage.

• Plunge Attack : Tartaglia shoots several arrows in the air then falls, dealing AOE damage as he lands.

2) Elemental Skills : Rotten Inheritance: Raging Tide

This gives Tartaglia a new arsenal of weapons made of water, briefly turns him into a melee fighter and grants a new set of attacks.

• Normal Attack : Tartaglia performs up to six consecutive Hydro attacks.

• Loaded Attack : Tartaglia performs Hydro cross cuts, Stamina costs.

• Riptide Slash : If Tartaglia hits an opponent affected by Riptide, it deals AoE Hydro damage. It can only happen once every 1.5 seconds.

You can switch back to the Ranged Tartaglia stance at any time. The longer he stays in Melee, the longer the cooldown. After 30 seconds, it becomes Ranged again automatically and the cooldown increases.

3) Elemental Burst : Havor: Annihilation

Comes in two varieties, depending on whether the Tartaglia is in the Ranged or Melee position.

• Range : Flash Of, Havoc Tartaglia fires a powerful Hydro arrow, dealing AoE damage and giving enemies Riptide.

• Riot : Light Obliteration, Tartaglia hydro slashes with AoE, triggering Riptide Blast.

4) Passive

• Never ending : Extends Riptide by eight seconds.

• Torrents Sword : When in Melee stance, any critical hits automatically apply Riptide.

• Weaponry master : Increase the Normal Attack rate of all party members one by one.

5) Constellations

• Rotten Legacy: Tide Withholder : Reduced Foul Legacy: Raging Tide’s cooldown by 20 percent

• Rotten Legacy: Understream : Tartaglia regenerates four Elemental Energy when Riptide kills an enemy.

• Abyssal Mayhem: Vortex Of Turmoil : Increases Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by three.

• Abyssal Mayhem: Hydrospout : Trigger a riptide slash or Riptide Flash every four seconds.

• Havoc: Shapeless Blade : Raise Havoc: Annihilation by three.

• Havoc: Annihilation: Rotten Inheritance : Rising Tide cooldown resets whenever Havoc: Obliteration is cast in Melee stance.

Best Genshin Impact Childe Making: Example of DPS setup

Tartaglia works best as a DPS fighter. Being as rare and powerful as he was, there was no point in trying to include him in the team like anything else. As one of the best fighters in the game, you want to build him up for the DPS role.

• Stringless : This bow expands the power of the Air Tartaglia, making it a great Elemental DPS bow. It increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst damage by 24 percent, doubling to 48 percent when fully upgraded. This packs a serious punch and can make Tartaglia even more unstoppable.

• Rust : This bow is more about physical damage over Hydro and is a viable alternative. This provides a boost to Normal Shots, but at a slight cost to Aimed Shots.

• Noblesse Obligation :2-part: Elemental Burst damage increased by 20 percent. 4-part: Using Elemental Burst increases all party members’ Attack stats by 20 percent for 12 seconds, but this effect cannot stack.
