Genshin Impact 2.2: Everything we know

Looking for Genshin Impact 2.2 release date? Another month has passed and that means a new version of Genshin Impact is here, complete with characters, events, and more. This time, we venture to the mist-shrouded island of Tsurumi to explore an ancient maze filled with monsters with rockstars Liyue, Xinyan, Fatui Harbinger, Tartaglia, and a floating paper samurai called Shiki-Taishou.

Genshin Impact 2.2 prepares for Halloween with the introduction of a mysterious misty island, a new spectral wolf enemy, and a rerun of genshin’s scariest character, Hu Tao. But there’s a lot more to it than that, including flower arranging, battling ancient machines, and new characters in the form of Aloy, and the capable nanny, Thoma.

If you’re still working on getting that coveted claymore-fish at the Moonchase Festival, this Moonlight Seeker guide can help you get the 100% you need. There’s also a Kokomi building guide, and where to find Sango Pearls to ride her. Apart from that, let’s get down to what you can expect in the Genshin Impact 2.2 update.

When is Genshin Impact 2.2 release date?

Genshin Impact 2.2 release date is October 13th. The crossover character, Aloy, will also be releasing it on Tartaglia’s banner, Farewell to Snezhnaya.

Genshin Impact 2.2 Characters: Who’s on their way to Teyvat?

We have two new Genshin Impact characters looking forward to in 2.2, as well as some reruns:

We’ve already met the Kamisato Clan’s housekeeper in the Archon Inazuma quest, but in Genshin Impact 2.2, the four-star pyro polearm-wielder becomes a playable character. Thoma will be available as part of the second banner version 2.2 Moment of Bloom, alongside Hu Tao reruns. If the regular banner schedule holds, it will likely be released around November 3.

Although the Hunter from Horizon Zero Dawn has launched on PlayStation, it will be available for free in Genshin Impact 2.2 on PC. You’ll be able to claim Aloy and her four-star arc, the Predator, from your in-game mailbox when the new version is released, provided you’re at least rank 20 adventure.

Fatui’s Eleventh Harbinger returns to run again. Tartaglia — or Childe — will be available in the banner release of Genshin Impact 2.2, Farewell to Snezhnaya on October 13. We don’t know who the four-star accompanying him is, but if you want this five-star Hydro character, that would be the best time.

Hu Tao

Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s Pyro polearm-wielding director is also back for reruns. As mentioned, she will appear alongside Thoma in the Moment of Bloom banner, but we don’t know who the other two four stars on the banner are.

What new areas do we get?

In time for Halloween, we will get to the spooky, mist-shrouded island of Tsurumi. This is Inazuma’s last island territory that has not been added to the game, and it will serve as the location for Genshin Impact 2.2’s main event, Labyrinth Warriors. This will see us descend into the Spiral Abyss-esque dungeon, and engage Xinyan and Tartaglia. We don’t know much else about Tsurumi, other than that it will have a new type of treasure chest to give away blueprints, called an Extraordinary Chest, and it will be home to a new Rifthound Whelp monster.

Genshin Impact 2.2 weapons: What we will hold

There are several new weapons coming in Genshin Impact 2.2. Here is what they are:

NameRarity (star)Type
Pole StarFiveArc
Wavebreaker finFourPolearm
Moon MoonFourArc

Genshin Impact 2.2 events: What we know

The main new event is Labyrinth Warriors, which sees us fighting our way through a five-story multi-room dungeon known as the Mystic Onmyou Chamber, alongside a paper samurai called Shiki-Taishou. Similar to Spiral Abyss, you have to choose two teams — one main support and one — as well as Shikifuda, who act as floor-based buffs that you usually pick in Abyss.

You’ll defeat random monsters in each room, which earns you currency to upgrade your Shiki Taishou, get better Shikifuda, or claim rewards from the event shop. There will also be a chance to get four-star Pyro claymore-user, Xinyan, as part of the event, as she is somehow involved in the story of the labyrinth.

Shadow of the Ancients was about defeating Anomaly Ruin Graders—regenerated versions of boss enemies. First you have to find the ingredients to repair Pursina Spikes using the prospecting device, then you have to charge the spikes with Electro when attacked, then you have to do it again against the Anomaly Ruin Grader to prevent it from repairing itself. This event looks a lot like a plate-spinning boss fight — a bit like dealing with the status effects of a La Signora fight.

Set to World’s Sound following on from the Lyre Festival Windchase-based rhythm game, gives us Floral Zither, and asks us to play songs with different Genshin Impact characters. Dreams of Bloom is a flower growing/arrangement event where you plant special seeds in your Serenitea Pot for prizes, including decorative flower stands, and flowers to give to other players.

Finally, there will be Ley Line Overflow another with improved Blossoms of Wealth and Wisdom for additional Mora and Experience, and two new hangout events: one each for Thoma and Sayu.

Will there be new monsters to fight?

While we didn’t get a new boss in Genshin Impact 2.2, we did get a new type of monster. Rifthound Whelp and its variants look like spectral wolves, or re-animated stuffed wolves. Either way, they will definitely complement the spooky vibe of Tsurumi island. The Rifthounds turn invisible during battle to stalk you – just like Agent Fatui – and they will deal continuous damage to all of your party members if they land a hit, whether you’re shielded or not.

Serenitea pots get fancy floating stones

Besides the flower arrangement stand from the Dreams of Bloom show, there’s a lot of new stuff coming to Pot Serenitea. First, there is a new world style modeled after Inazuma called the ‘Silken Courtyard’ along with Inazuma’s various furnishings. You can now claim furniture blueprints from Remarkable Chests in the world as well. But the highlight is the new floating stone platform you can place furniture on, creating your own Liyue-style adept abode.
