Beginner's guide to Benedetta, MLBB's newest female assassin

Mobile Legends: 100th Hero bang bang and the only female assassin Moonton released this year is Benedetta the Shadow Ranger.

Based on his in-game profile, Moonton ranks him on a difficulty of 8/10. He’s not as easy to play with as his damage isn’t done in one full blast, nor does he deal consistent damage like a sniper. The pattern of the game is different from other heroes because of its unique passive.

Passive – Daylight Passes

While holding down the Basic Attack button, Benedetta entered Swordout Status and continued to collect Sword Intent. If the Basic Attack button is released after the Sword Intent is fully charged, Benedetta will use a Swordout Slash in the direction it faces and dash forward, dealing 100 (+ 220% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to enemies on its way.

Only when Benedetta is in Sword State and Sword Intent is fully charged by holding down the Basic Attack button can she release a Sword Slash.

Benedetta can also get Sword Intent when dealing damage through Basic Attacks and skills.

Damage is classified as Skill Damage and deals Physical damage. It doesn’t trigger Physical or Magic Lifesteal, but triggers Spell Vamp.

  • The charge bar is the sword under your health bar. Only when you hold it long enough for it to turn red can you release it for Benedetta to perform a Swordout Slash.
  • Configure the basic attack afterwards by releasing and immediately pressing the basic attack button again after you release it.
  • Note that Benedetta’s Sword Slash will move it in the direction it faces, that is, based on your directional wheel. This will take some getting used to, as we’re used to directing abilities using our skill panel on the right.
  • It was this flickering motion that allowed Benedetta to pass through the wall, which made it even more slippery.
  • Charge repeatedly and release your Basic Attack button as you leave base so you can continue to run fast across the battlefield.
  • Apart from the time it takes to charge, this ability is completely free. Also use it to avoid enemy skill shots

First Skill – Phantom Slash

Benedetta is back quickly and left a shadow in front. After a short pause, the shadow slashes forward in a fan-shaped area, dealing 300/340/380/420/460/500 (+60% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage and slowing enemies by 60% for 0.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, Benedetta dashes forward to slash, dealing 180/204/228/252/276/300 (+ 70% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage. If the target is hit by her shadow, the damage caused by Benedetta herself will increase by 200%.

  • Read that last line again. If the target is hit by its shadow – not Benedetta – your damage to that target will be doubled.
  • This is your main skill that you should improve whenever you can. As much as possible, make sure your shadow hits the target you’re aiming for so you can get the job done.

Second skill – Eye For Eye

Benedetta raises her weapon in defense, gains Immunity, and blocks damage from any source within 0.8 seconds. After defense, he stabs in the specified direction dealing 300/330/360/390/420/450 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage.

If Benedetta manages to maintain Crowd Control during defense, she will gain full Sword Intent and stun the target for 1.5 seconds.

  • Since the effect of An Eye For An Eye is premium (Immune Control and blocks all damage from any source), its duration is rather short at less than one second. It also has a longer cooldown compared to other skills, so use it strategically in battle.
  • This is another blinking ability, as Benedetta will move in the specified direction.

Ultimate – Alecto: Final Strike

Benedetta clenched an Alecto and slashed forward after a short pause, becoming invincible on the fly, slowing all targets in the path by 70% for 1 second.

After running, Benedetta detonates Sword Intent in its path, strangling enemies with Sword Intents for 2.5 seconds, dealing 80/100/120 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage and slowing enemies by 20% every 0.2 seconds.

  • The ultimate has a low cooldown, so you can even use it to clear waves of minions.
  • Don’t start the fight with the ultimate even if you’re tempted to do so. Because he was slick, he easily exploded at the back line.
  • For optimal results, combos with crowd control that can lock onto enemies for your ultimate hit the full 2.5 seconds.
  • Otherwise, you can use it as a closer gap when chasing enemies because this skill pushes them the farthest distance. You don’t always have to make sure that it hits the enemy.

Tips and tricks

Chances are you’ll get a negative KDA when you start learning how to play Benedetta. Keep practicing! It takes time to master the new mechanics of charging his passive Swordout Slash, and then putting it in the right direction once it’s done.

Each of Benedetta’s abilities gives you mobility in the form of a blink or move like Phantom Slash. In total, you will have a minimum of four movement skills, and even more when your passive is in battle. Use its built-in mobility to your advantage.

When you let your tank start on the frontlines, seek flank corners, or sweep with your final Alecto: Final Strike – but only after a key skill has been used by the enemy.

Alternatively, instead of playing big, start by positioning yourself around the periphery of the fight. Even though his ultimate is AoE, Benedetta is still an assassin who wants to land Phantom Slash on his chosen target. Using his mobility, enter and exit the fight. Don’t be afraid to get out, then come back in for a mortal blow.

As an Assassin, the obvious choice was to use the Assassin Emblem. There are some great options here, depending on your playing style. You can put points into Agility for additional movement speed, or Mastery for a reduced cooldown which will allow you to access your skills more often.

For a flat Physical penetration, consider Invasion, or the Vamp Charm – which is obtained from the passive – with Bloodthirsty. You can also get lifesteal from items, so Blood Thirst gives you a little extra. In the last line, Killing Spree is the best and only choice because it will restore some HP, and give bonus movement speed after killing.

In terms of items, he has four core items: Raptor Machete, Magic Shoes, Bloodlust Ax, and Blade of Despair. The last two items depend on your style, and the enemy lineup. We love how he plays with Endless Battle and Queen’s Wings which gives him HP. Always match your defensive items to which hero poses the highest threat to the enemy team, and at other times, you can even choose to choose two defensive items, should the situation arise.
