The 2021 Total Free Fire World Series prizes held in Singapore set a record

GAMEFINITY.ID, Jakarta – The Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore (FFWS 2021 SG) tournament will soon be held in Singapore in May 2021. As the tournament organizer, Garena offers a total of $ 2 million or around IDR 28 billion in prize money. This number is the highest number in the history of Free Fire esports competition.

The FFWS 2021 SG marks the beginning of the return of Free Fire’s normal international esports tournament after it went online last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We know that the World Series is eagerly awaited by players and fans, so we’re working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure we can continue to present the best Free Fire tournament. Safety was and will remain our top priority in running this event, “said Garena’s Global Esports Manager Justin Lye in a written statement on Friday (03/18/2021).

The FFWS 2021 SG starts with the play-in round on May 22nd. The final will take place on May 29th. This schedule itself has been postponed after originally scheduled for April 24th (play-ins) and May 1st (finals).

A total of 22 teams from 14 regions will compete against each other in Singapore and fight for the Free Fire World Championship. In the play-ins round, the 12 teams that finished first or second in their respective regional tournaments compete.

The top two teams will later join the top 10 teams in the world waiting for the finals. The whole team fights in 6 rounds on 3 maps. Everyone must fight to be the last one left, with points calculated based on rank in each round and number of kills.

The World Series is the largest and most popular esports tournament in the Free Fire game. The opening tournament Free Fire World Series 2021 was watched by more than 2 million viewers at the same time. Esports Charts calls the audience a world record for a mobile esports tournament.

Even when it is kept offline, Garena ensures that all activities are carried out according to strict health protocols and applicable travel guidelines. Garena has received support from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to host the FFWS 2021 SG. Garena also works with various industry experts and organizations, including the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA).

“We are proud to be able to support Garena in organizing the FFWS 2021 SG, one of the leading esports tournaments in the world. The return of the event testifies to Singapore’s growing reputation as an esports destination and our ability to host the event safely, “said Jean Ng, Executive Director Attractions, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development for the Singapore Tourism Board.

“We look forward to welcoming all eligible teams to Singapore and working closely with the organizers to ensure a safe and successful event.”
